Data Show Mass Vaccination Sites are Reaching the General Population — Not the Vulnerable Areas They are Supposed to Target

Mass public COVID-19 vaccination sites, especially those in the cities meant to target vulnerable minority populations, have been seeing more white suburbanites than those in the demographic they are meant to target. In order to combat this, some sites have been restricting appointments to certain zip codes. Other successful strategies have included community partnerships and pop-up clinics where vaccination clinics partner with local churches or go to housing authority complexes. Having the support of local church leaders has helped inspire confidence in the vaccine.
