You’re Vaccinated. Your Kids Are Not. What Now?

Some of the parents and grandparents that attend your clinic may wonder whether they can begin traveling and visiting friends/family now that they are vaccinated but their children are not. Since the COVID-19 vaccines have not yet been approved for children under 16, it can be tricky to gauge what activities are safe for the family. This NYT article provides a few recommendations from experts in the field. Recommendations include limited permission of interactions between children of the same household or pod, increased safety precautions for children when traveling, and having children avoid high risk places like gyms and restaurants. Most importantly, advise your patients to weigh the pros and cons individual actions do their best to strike a balance between being safe and taking care of their children's mental health and wellbeing.
