Project Implicit

Everyone has implicit biases, unconscious attitudes or stereotypes - we have a bias when, rather than being neutral, we have a preference for (or aversion to) a person or group of people. Thus, we use the term “implicit bias” to describe when we have attitudes towards people or associate stereotypes with them without our conscious knowledge. Implicit biases can lead to harm and mistreatment. To diminish the negative impact of these biases, we must first recognize which ones we hold. Project Implicit offers a series of tests that you can use to examine what biases you may hold, ranging from race to disability to age.
